So E-commerce is a subset of an overall e-business strategy. Ok that is the theory, now we will discuss more about the implementations and spread of e-commerce.
E-commerce, is it real?
Maybe yes, maybe no.
Why is it real?
Because it just a way to create or developing commercial companies that have been exist in real word before, with electronic media to promotion and sell-buy transaction.
Why isn’t real?
Because it use media electronic like internet (cyber world) to operate the trade online. A commercial company may not have a building or office to work.
As an example, a housewife can make an e-commerce catering from the kitchen. If we did not recognized her, maybe with the bid insured in her web “catering” we will decided to order in her catering. This catering that we direct order is belong B2C (business to customer) e-commerce.
Now we talk about business pressures that point to E-commerce and how to evaluate them so you can make best strategy to build your own e-commerce.
First, about market and economic pressures :
- strong competition
make your marketing be different, easy to access, available 24 hours and trusted
- global economy
make coverage of business spread of widely, there are no land boundaries truly so you can extend your company’s coverage but with global economy it’s mean you have another rival from another place too.
- frequent and significant changes in market
it means your company must be suitable with the changes in market. So you must decided the suitable prudance for your business.
Second, societal and environmental pressures :
- changing nature of workforce
Use workforce that qualify with his/her job.
- government deregulation of banking and other services
Support the government in banking and other services make a good respon in citizens to do e-commerce.
- increased importance of ethical and legal issues
It’s make a good deal in business, trusted and avoid monkey business.
Third, technological pressure. I think technological pressure is must important part that change the state of business and commerce so they can become E-business and E-commerce.
- rapid technological obsolescence.
- increase innovations and new technologies.
- information overload.
- rapid decline in technology cost vs performance ratio
Because technology always evolve, and make a new product technology that can support your business. Customer want a comfortable access so you must choose a right technology for your sales targets.
E-commerce can be classification into 3 type :
1.B2B (Business to Business)
Example in e-commerce catering, it can join with eo (event organizer) that held wedding party or birthday party. It is business in food that join with business in services party.
2.B2C (Business to Customer)
Example in e-commerce catering, the order can be reserved directly from the website by customer that have party
3.B2E (Business to Employee)
Example in e-commerce online training english language, every employee can have training from their seat by online.
From the classification above, we know that B2B (Business to Business) have larger area than other. It can branching your product to another business, it’s mean the chance to growth your business is more attractive.
Some ethical issues that exist in Indonesia that can be consider in your e-commerce is :
1.technical limitation
- insufficient telecommunication bandwith.
so make your website not complex but still interactive so it’s can access very fast.
- many place in Indonesia can access internet not yet
So build your product’s market and customer’s area in right place.
-difficult integrating internet, e-commerce software and hardware that exist now
Commonly use technology that other ecommerce use too.
2.non-technical limitation
- with minimum knowledge in technology. It’s can be expensive to develope E-commerce in house.
- provider sometimes can’t guarantee security and privasi data from customer.
- still not sure for some customer that rarely do e-commerce
- lack of trust and user resistance so you must make a good branded for your product and trusted transaction so you can build a good image.
Now, many e-commerce appear with various design and variation. So the best way to learn about E-commerce is try it yourself to make your product business become e-commerce.
